Shaman King Volume 5 The Abominable Dr. Faust

This volume has the coolest creepiest character so far. This volume starts off where the last one ended. Horohoro and Yoh face off.  Yoh and Horohoro have the same amount of mana that is why the Great Spirit put this match together. As the fight goes on Horohoro uses all of his mana to create an avalanche. Yoh chose to get hit by the avalanche. Then carve his way out of the snow. Yoh still had a lot of mana and Horohoro had nothing left. Yoh used a attack and scared Horohoro to won the fight.

I like this fight, Horohoro has an awesome power. Its ice and snow what’s not to like? After the fight, Ryu and his gang has a party for Yoh First win and Horohoro was there too, we learned that Horohoro is pretty good guy and very goofy. We also meet Pirka, Horohoro’s sister and she is just like Anna. She takes Horohoro away to train.

We learn about Yoh next opponent. Faust the 8, they spend a whole chapter just building up this character. Silva heard that, this guy kill his last opponent and Silva take the time to talk to Anna about Forfeiting Yoh’s next fight, because in the rules you only need to win 2 out 3 matches to go to the next round. Anna believe in Yoh so she said let him fight.

During this chat, Yoh and manta are waiting for the next opponent and this where they meet Faust 8.  Right off the bat Amidamaru had bad vibes about him. This is where the fight begins. Faust is a Necromancer, he can use skeleton and he uses an army of skeleton to slow Yoh down, but that is not it. He takes Manta and start cutting him up. This is where Yoh loses control, and goes on a rampage to get to Manta. Yoh uses also all of the mana to get to manta, but can’t get through this army of skeleton. Each time he knocks a few down Faust puts them back together. Anna shows up. Anna tells about why Yoh cares so much about Manta, and why he was so in rages. Yoh never really had many friends growing up and most people just called him a Devil kid, because of his Shaman abilties. until he met Manta. The volumes ends with Yoh having a little bit of mana left and Faust is using his over soul Eliza. Yoh is determined to beat Faust, and as everyone is watching.

This is my favorite by far, and I hope we get more of Faust in the next few volumes because I think his design, abilities and he is a pretty interesting character. Like Eliza skull has a hole in it, could it be a bullet hole? Did Faust kill her? I also found a mistake is this volume, chapter 41 you see Yoh take off his sweater to wrap around manta, but in the next two pages he has his sweater back on and then off again.

My Collection Black Lagoon Season 1 and 2

Hey everyone, I pick up Black Lagoon DVD+Blu ray for $32.99 off Rightstuf and hammer right through it pretty quick. the animation was awesome, the action was bloody, i wish they had more episodes.

Black Lagoon is a 24 episode show, and it follows the adventures of a group of pirates/mercenaries called Lagoon Company. This show is very entertaining, if you are a fan of 90’s actions movies, you will also enjoy this ride from beginning to end.

Black lagoon does not have a main story line  its broken down to short 2 - 4 episode arcs, each arc touch on a theme, some darker than others. This show has a lot of action and a lot of interesting characters. What I enjoy the most about this show, how some characters pass brought them to this town, city of Roanapur, Rock for an example. Roanapur itself is a interesting, because like everyone living there, has a dark past and it’s pretty much a character itself. Another thing I enjoy was the interaction with each of the characters and the dialogue between characters, one of my favorite parts of show, was when Rock and the leader of Hotel Moscow have a little talk in the last arc of season 2  

Characters

Rock is the main protagonist. He is just a everyday people toss into this hell, you will see how it changes throughout the series

Revy is the female protagonist, and one of the best female protagonist in anime (that i have seen). She is a badass. The only problem i have with her is, she misses a lot, for someone that is one of the best shooters in the series, each time she meets antagonist or anyone with a name, she cannot hit them for 5 minutes. (This is just a problem with gun animes.)

Dutch is the leader of the Lagoon Company, he is a cool badass character that shoots a shotgun like a gangster. (Episode 6 season 1)

Benny is pretty much the Teams IT.

Overall I like this series awesome, a fun ride of beginning to end. I watch this series in dub and I liked it. I don't know if I will watch it in sub.

Shaman King Volume 4 The Over Soul

Chapter 27 to 35

Shaman King Volume 4 was pretty funny with an interesting fight. So the volume start off with a tribe of patch, they are the people that run this shaman king tournament. This is where we meet the chieftain and Silva. Silva design is cool and mostly with his Over soul. This volume covers the qualification of the shamans, so pretty much who will be fight in this shaman king tournament.

Silva greets Yoh and tells him that he is apart of shaman fight selection committee and if he wants to take part in the fight, Yoh  just has to hit him within 10 minutes.  Yoh integration with Amibamaru and tries to hit Silva but fails, Yoh tries different things. All of what Yoh tries to do Against Silva does not work.

Silva shows off all 5 of his Over Souls. Silva Uses 5 animal spirits, an eagle, a turtle, a snake, a wolf and a Buffalo. Each of the spirit has a very cartoony design. He also drop a lot of hints during the fight of what Yoh has to do, the biggest one is "he is testing the shaman not his spirit".

Yoh finally learns Over Soul, by putting Amibamaru spirit into his sword Harusame. Yoh’s Over Soul looks bad ass with a ball of energy around his arm and sword. At this point of the fight there is only a few minutes left and Silva puts all of his Spirits together to make a totem pole gun. Yoh and Silva put all of their energy into one attack and Yoh won, he hit Silva.

Silva tells Yoh how the tournament's first round will work. Yoh will have to win 2 out of 3 matches to move on. we also see Ren killed his shaman fight  selection committee member. This was interesting, because he can still be in the shaman king tournament, so it looks like Yoh or another character could die in a fight.

The last few Chapters are about Yoh’s first fight with Horohoro, a snowboarder with a Koropokkur as a spirit. Horohoro is a very goofy character. We find out about his past and why he wants to be shaman king, Yoh’s Reacts to this is funny. As the fight goes on, we see Horohoro can use ice from his snowboard, and the volumes end in the middle of the fight.

Shaman King Volume 3: The Lizard Man

Chapter 18 to 26

Hey everyone, this volume was pretty good. Great character development. The ending is what made it. So lets get to it. The cover for most of these volumes are pretty badass. Im really enjoy Hiroyuki Takei art style.

This volume is main focus is Ryu and a new character Tokagero. Tokagero is a ghost that takes control of Ryu’s body to get revenge on Amibamaru. Amibamaru killed Tokagero 600 years ago. Tokagero devises up a plan to take revenge on Amibamaru and use Ryu and his gang. He forces the Gang steal Amibamaru’s sword and kidnaps Manta. This is when they go see Yoh and where the volume get very interesting. Because Amibamaru has to choose to lost something, Manta or the sword that Amibamaru’s treasures.

This sword is one of the thing that made Amibamaru so great, because of his friend Mosuke. This sword is what bond these two people for over 600, so losing it would like losing Mosuke.

Yoh show what it really mean to be a shaman in this fight and risk his life to do so. The way this story end was very cool.

after the events of Tokagero. We learn that Ryu is a shaman or has shaman ability, and he said this is the first step to finding his happy place (this is how i see it). It looks like Ryu and his Gang became friends with Yoh and crew.

The volume ends with a comet fall across the sky. This comet signal the beginning of the shaman fight to be king and see many new characters.

Shaman King Volume 2: Kung-Fu Master

Chapter 9 to 17

Volume 2 starts off where the first volume ended, yoh has won the fight against Ren and is now in the hospital. this is where we get a flashback of Yohs as a kid with his grandfather, his grandfather is also a Shaman and training Yoh. we get more world building and the four different types of Shaman. the four type are onmyoji, itako, miko ascetic monk ( if you want to know the difference please pick up the volume). we also learn why Yoh wants to become Shaman King, just so he can do nothing. then Yoh woke up.

we meet a new character. Anna  Yoh’s Fiancee. Anna is a Itako type of shaman. she tell the crew that more shaman are coming and they will be fighting for the title shaman king. during this time Anna trains Yoh but we did not see any of it.

Ren is piss about losing the fight to Yoh and taking it out on Ryu. here we meet another character from Ren’s family, his sister Tao Jun  and her zombie Lee Bailong. Tao Jun attacks Yoh and his friends, this is also a awesome fight, Yoh got his ass kicked and was push to his limits. Manta really was the hero of this volume because he show true courage and really grew as a character and pretty much saved Yoh. we learn how dark the shaman world is, Ren’s family kill strong warrior so shaman can use them there spirit and bodies.

i don't want to spoil the ending, because i already spoiled a lot so i will stop this here and see you next week

Shaman King Volume One: A Shaman in Tokyo

Shaman king follows the adventures of Yoh, Manta and Amibamaru. Manta is just an everyday  high school kid that gets thrown into this world of shamans and ghosts, once he befriends Yoh. Yoh is also high school kid that just move to japan and he is Shaman.  Amibamaru is a legendary samurai, and he is a ghost.

=========================Spoilers============================

in the first few chapter we learn about Amibamaru’s past and the world of shamans. we also learn about Ryu and his gang. Ryu can also see ghost. one of the most interesting things about Ryu, is he wants to find a happy place.

the last few chapters we meet Ren, a crazy young shaman, that attacks Yoh to take Amibamru.. Ren believes ghosts are just tools to use, and Yoh believes they should be your friend. this leads to a pretty entertaining fight. we learn that more shamans are coming to Japan to fight for the title of Shaman King and this is the main plot of the story.

the art work in shaman king is awesome.  every time a shaman integration with a ghost, the picture is pretty badass. you can tell that Hiroyuki Takei just enjoys drawing Manta's reaction faces.
